Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie in a Bowl

My absolute favorite smoothie is Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie in a bowl.  This is my go-to, never fails me, most delicious smoothie recipe.  And of course, like all good smoothies, it’s super easy to make.

2/3 cup frozen strawberries

1/2 banana

1 cup almond milk

3 ice cubes

1 scoop (1 serving) of chocolate whey protein

2 huge handfuls of spinach

a bit of stevia

*Stop here if you want a smoothie you can drink through a straw.  For a spoon friendly version, add the following ingredients.

1/2 tsp. xanthan gum

1 1/2 Tbsp. granola of choice (I used Bear Naked Fit Granola)

One of the best things about smoothies is that it’s a great way to use spinach that is on its last leg.  This spinach was just starting to get that slimy texture around its leafy edges, but once blended, you couldn’t tell at all in the taste.

This smoothie is greeeeeen, but I assure you, it’s very chocolatey.

And how about my new place mats?  I’ve posted a couple of pictures of them already, but never really mentioned them.  I’ve been looking for these exact place mats for about two months, unsuccessfully until now.  Not because I had seen them and wanted them, but because I had dreamed them up in my head.  I always get a very clear picture of what I want in my mind when I go shopping for something, and then get really disappointed that designers can’t read my mind.  Yeah, that’s realistic.

Well Sur La Table did!  And the price was right!

$2.99 baby.  Can’t beat that.
