My favorite smoothie recipe

I definitely post more breakfast recipes than anything else.  Nothing quite describes my love for breakfast.  Sometimes, it’s the only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning.  And here is one of my favorites – my favorite smoothie recipe.

Kel’s Kitchen brings you chocolate strawberry smoothie…

140 grams of frozen strawberries (yes, I love my scale)

1/2 a large banana

1 scoop of chocolate whey protein

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

2 big handfuls of spinach

Skip the ice; you won’t need it with all the frozen strawberries.  I enjoyed this with a piece of millet bread with Crofters Superfruit Asia jam and a wedge of Laughing Cow.  Maybe that’s weird but I’ve been substituting it for cream cheese when I eat smoked salmon and it was pretty delicious with jam.

And here it is again up close.  Look how thick and delicious it is.

In other news, Brad and I tried the Chocolate Almond Attune bar.

This one was even better than the first!  It reminded me of a Hershey Bar with Almonds.

Perfect size for sharing, although it wasn’t an equal split.  I of course had the larger piece since I was the official taste tester.  Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.  Fine holiday fun!  Name that 90’s film classic.

  1. Haha, I’ve also been rocking the smoothies like 3-4 mornings a week now. So good 🙂
And I will name your 90’s movie- Clueless! Love that movie. It’s the part where Ty rates Claire’s debate in the classroom. I’m full of useless information!

    • I just love them in the summer! They’re like a milkshake. 🙂

And you are correct about the movie, but actually it was Travis that said that quote. One of my favorite movies of all time. I’m so 90’s.

  2. Oh my god I just loooove Clueless. The second you said it, I was like “ohhh Travis..” Ha.
I love breakfast too! The greatest meal. Love the smoothie too! Thanks, darlin!

  3. Hahaha Clueless! Was his name Travis Birkenstock or something? LOL!
I substitute laughing cow for cream cheese too!

    • You get double street cred for knowing that! I always assumed since they were rich kids in Beverly Hills, he must have been the heir to the Birkenstock shoes dynasty.
